February 3 - 7

It's February, and we'll continue this week with Gatsby, writing an argument prompt in steps, and a four-corner debate. I've had a chance to begin reading the brainstorm step of the argument prompt we started, and I'm impressed by the variety and quality of answers so far.

MONDAY: IAB practice section for CAASPP. Collect Character nomination forms and vote for Gatsby cast for your period. Notes: establishing criteria in argument. Inductive and deductive arguments.

Due: Please read the rest of Chapter 5 and 6 of Gatsby, and fill out the Gatsby Nomination Form for one character. Bring the form with you on Monday.

Homework: Keep up with current events e-mails for the current event quiz this Friday.

Please go over all of the argument notes we've taken so far, and read the actual student example answers to the prompt. On Wednesday, we`ll warm up, and then you`ll add to the argument prompt-in-progress.

WEDNESDAY: Journal warm-up/review of argument process. Time in class to write a draft of the AP argument prompt you read and brainstormed last week.
